How to Live Joyfully and Confidently
Thursday General Program Class
About This Series
Often, we base our happiness and self-esteem on external factors: other people’s perceptions, our professional accomplishments, or our social popularity. Because these external conditions are constantly shifting, the confidence they provide is fragile, usually accompanied by an underlying sense of insecurity and anxiety. whereas true, stable confidence arises not from what we do, but from recognizing who we are. Through guided meditation and mind-training, we will learn how to identify with this pure nature and potential. This spiritual self-confidence imbues our life with a great sense of purpose and joy, enabling us to skillfully and creatively transform our daily problems and difficulties into the very tools that help us progress toward our deepest goals. These teachings and meditations are based on the timeless wisdom of Shantideva’s A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, a universally loved Buddhist masterpiece that reveals how to transform daily life into a spiritual path, as presented in Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s beautiful and practical modern translation.
No previous experience necessary. Everyone is welcome.
